Abstract

Digital data recording of the geometry of 3-dimensional objects require a 3D scanner tool which are mostly using an imagery sensor. However there is hardly used information of scanned result, named color. Imagery sensor requires high spesification processing unit as capable as a personal computer for data acquisition processing. This research aims to build a 3D surface scanner using a time of flight laser ranging sensor and to develop its simple function to become more valuable device. Using point to point displacement method, the sensor measures the distance between the outermost point of the object and the sensor surface perpendicularly, once when one measurement is done then the object to be rotated along with the rotary table. The prototype was built using the VL53L0X sensor and ATMEGA8535 microcontroller as a motor controller for rotary table and vertical axis. Scanned data is sent from the microcontroller to the computer to be visualized in real time. The results show that the VL53L0X sensor is suitable for scanning convex objects but it is not capable to handle objects with multiple cavities.

Abstract

An ELT is a beacon indicating the location of distress or crash of aircraft on land or sea. The ELT is placed in an airplane, which is a transmitter with low transmit power and an antenna. The ELT transmitter has been widely used for flights at the frequency of 121.5 MHz (civilian) and 243 MHz (military). The purpose of this study is to produce ELT signal generators at the 121.5 MHz frequency, with low-cost devices that meet specifications for civil aviation. In this research has been produced a design of an ELT signal generator at the frequency of 121.5 MHz, consist of a crystal oscillator, a sawtooth generator, a VCO, and an amplitude modulator. Based on the measurement and test results, the sawtooth generator generated a sawtooth signal at the frequency of 1.8 to 3.6 Hz, the VCO generated a sinusoidal signal at the frequency of 316 to 366 Hz, the RF generator generated a sinusoidal at the frequency of 121.505 MHz. The ELT signal generator was able to generate AM signals at the minimum amplitude deviation of 100 mVpp to maximum one of 156 mVpp, the modulation index (m) of 21.875%, and the frequency of 121.505 MHz. The results of this study are ELT signal generators at the frequencies of 121.5 MHz that are in accordance with specifications for civil aviation.

Abstract

Every public space requires vehicle parking facilities. The registration system was created to ensure the safety of parked vehicles. The existing registration system is done manually by giving a ticket written by the vehicle number by the officer. During exit, ticket is shown to the officer for being matched with the vehicle number. This system has a disadvantage because parking tickets have the opportunity to be counterfeit; the time of verification is dependent on humans and the use of disposable paper. The purpose of this study is to solve problems at low cost. The chosen solution is to register with the QR Code on the driver and vehicle when entering and leaving. This frees the riding-vehicle pair when entering the same as when exiting, because the system will not open the door if the driver-vehicle pair is different between when entering and exiting. The next advantage is reducing human problems. To support this goal, use smart and smart devices that use Android-based smartphones, Google Sheets, Google Forms, MIT App Inventor and TinyDB. This Android-based parking registration system has been proven to increase parking safety levels and reduce waiting times while reducing paper usage.

Abstract

Automation system in the form of automatic control is needed in one or several operating units in the process industry. Several control system algorithms have been widely implemented in the process industry, one of them is PI (Proportional and Integral) controller. This PI controller has a simple structure, but the adaptive ability of the controller is still not better for the controlled process. Therefore, the development of PI controller is needed to have a better adaptive ability to the process, in order to produce the responses that are also better and more robust. This research develops PI controller by adding the Fuzzy controller algorithm or also known as PI-Fuzzy controller. The PI-Fuzzy controller in this study is applied to the IEC 61499 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) standard and to see its performance, the PI-Fuzzy controller based on IEC 61499 is tested and validated on an industrial scale process, namely coal mill. The test was carried out for three hours in real-time on the 4DIAC-IDE software, then the response results were compared with the response results of the PI controller. The PI-Fuzzy controller function block based on IEC 61499 made in this study showed good performance in controlling industrial-scale processes. This is demonstrated in testing and validation using a coal mill, with able to achieve the working range of each parameter. The mean value of coal flow parameter is 13.584 kg/s, coal mass accumulation is 2,196 kg, coal output temperature is 83.296 0C, coal moisture is 0.021, and coal fineness is 75.338 %.

Abstract

Cultivation of eggplant plants requires special conditions, specifically with soil moisture about 80% - 90%. Factors that affect soil moisture on plant growth is water necessary. To meet the water necessary and keep the soil moisture can be done with watering the plants. Currently, the cultivation technique of eggplant is watered manually, then needed a system that is able to monitor of soil moisture and control waterpump to water the plants automatically so that soil moisture conditions can be maintained. This system uses Arduino as microcontroller, YL-69 soil moisture sensor, SIM800L GSM module as data transmission, waterpump as sprinkler, and website as interface of the system because has advantage and convenience on the operation. The research method used the method of Research and Development. Test is done with Black Box test, Sensor Calibration test, and performance of the system test. Black Box test results indicate the functions in the website can be run properly, the sensor calibration test results indicate an average error of 2,2%, and the performance testing system obtained percentage success of 100%.

Abstract
